Export review PDFs and restore a sequence from CSV
Use a Review PDF for a readable picture-and-comment handoff, or Review Data Backup CSV for structured review information and sequence recovery. You need a Selection Set with resolvable images. The recipient needs the same images for a CSV-based restore; the CSV is not an image archive.
Prepare and export
- Open the intended set and check its order, count, captions, and per-image commentary. Add the set's overall comment if you need an introductory note.
- Choose the set's review export action. For a PDF, review the suggested set-based filename and save to a separate handoff folder.
- Open the PDF and inspect the first, middle, and final pages. Check image orientation, commentary, and the overall note before sharing it.
- For a structured backup, export Review Data Backup (CSV). Keep it with a copy or archive of the corresponding source files.
- Set the Editor/Photographer or Instructor/Student wording in Preferences → Workflow Presets when that terminology is relevant. It changes the workflow's wording, not the fundamental review-data format.
Restore or exchange a sequence
- On the receiving computer, make the corresponding image files available and load them in IBP.
- Use the Review Data Backup import action for the target set, or Make Set from Review Data Backup when a suitable set does not exist.
- Select the CSV and review filename matching. Resolve missing or ambiguous names before treating the result as complete.
- Inspect the recreated sequence and its review fields. Existing unmatched images are not proof of a successful match.
- Export a small numbered sequence and check order if the next tool relies on directory sorting.
Data and limits
Review CSV includes supported context such as captions, ratings, colors, picks, keywords, commentary, and order. It avoids exporting the originating computer's absolute paths. Contact sheets can show commentary excerpts; the review CSV retains fuller structured text. Neither format is a universal backup of app preferences, plugins, drawing databases, or originals.
Troubleshooting and next steps
If the recipient has changed filenames, find or restore the matching originals rather than repeatedly importing unmatched rows. Keep each photographer's duplicate camera filenames distinguishable in the working collection. For image-free classroom feedback revisions use Critique Binders; for an editable preview exchange use Edit Binders. Confirm the recipient's required format before sending.
