Share classroom feedback through a synced folder

A core Critique Binder contains drawing and written feedback revisions without embedding the primary photographs or full-resolution originals. Both people need access to the matching take images. Use a shared folder approved for the class, and confirm its sync state separately from IBP's local save result.

Instructor: prepare feedback

  1. Open the take folder and review the photographs in the carousel/Draw workflow.
  2. Add the intended drawings and notes. Keep feedback attached to the correct image while navigating.
  3. Use Draw's Critique Binder export controls to save a revision beside the take. Review the destination and the resulting binder file.
  4. Reopen or rediscover the binder from the folder and confirm the revision and linked images.
  5. Allow the shared-folder service to synchronize. Confirm that the intended recipient can see the file; a local save message alone does not establish delivery.

Student or recipient: open the revision

  1. Make the shared take and its binder file available locally. Open that take in IBP.
  2. Open Critique Binder, choose Load binder, and select the .ibpcritique file from its saved location. IBP validates the file before loading it. Revisions beside the take are also listed under Feedback source.
  3. If an image is unresolved, use the explicit relinking flow to select its matching original. Do not link a similarly named but different photograph.
  4. View the instructor feedback as read-only. Keep personal notes in the separate personal layer rather than editing the instructor revision.
  5. Navigate through the take and check the notes indicators and per-image feedback.

What is saved

Portable .ibpcritique revisions retain annotations and any explicitly added small photo previews. The primary photograph remains a separate file. Local drafts remain in app data; exported revisions live with the take. Keep older revisions when you need their history. These files are distinct from preview Edit Binders, Picture Desk board formats, and Grader's scene database. The recipient still needs the photographs.

Verify and recover

Test one revision between the actual two devices before using the workflow for a class. Check that drawings line up, notes belong to the correct image, and personal notes remain separate. If the binder is missing, confirm that OneDrive or Google Drive has downloaded both the binder and matching take locally, then reopen the take and use Load binder. If relinking fails, retain the unresolved revision and find the correct original instead of overwriting feedback. Actual OneDrive/Google Drive delivery is provider-dependent. See Draw for marking images. Optional Grader and Edit Binder tools have separate availability and storage.

Current export and student opening

In Work Mode, choose Export → Save Critique Binder. The native save dialog lets you choose a filename and destination; the take folder is suggested. A blank title uses the chosen filename. Cancel leaves the draft available. A close prompt reminds you when feedback still needs saving.

The student first opens their local take, then loads the binder. IBP imports it into that take and automatically opens the first matching instructor drawing. Written-only feedback opens in the binder dialog. Links are relative to the take, so its overall location may differ between Macs. If photographs are missing, relink one matching same-named photo: its folder helps find other reviewed photos. Differently named files remain unresolved and need attention.

A squiggly-line thumbnail badge means notes have been recorded. Instructor feedback stays read-only; personal notes and drawings use a separate local layer. Hidden sticky notes remain in exported feedback. Test on both actual Macs before classroom use; development checks do not establish that a cloud folder synchronized successfully.
