Receive images through FTP or a watched folder

Live Event Ingest brings arriving files into the normal local review workflow. You need a working FTP account or a local folder another application fills, plus a writable local event destination. This is a client/watcher; it does not create an internet-facing FTP server.

Watch an FTP source

  1. Open Ingest โ†’ Live Event Ingest to reach the Live FTP Desk.
  2. Choose FTP server as Source. Enter the protocol, host, port, username, password, and remote folder supplied by the server administrator.
  3. Choose the Local Event Folder for downloaded arrivals and set Live Check Seconds for polling.
  4. Choose Test Connection. Resolve connection or permission errors before expecting live arrivals.
  5. Use Browse Server to confirm the remote folder. Then choose Start Watching.
  6. Choose Review Images or Done - Review Images to review arrivals in the grid. Use Sync Now when an immediate check is needed.
  7. Inspect arrival status, duplicate skips, stabilization, and errors. Stop watching when the event intake is finished.

Watch a local folder

Select Local watched folder, choose Watched Local Folder, and choose the Local Event Folder. Start watching after confirming that the supplying app writes into the expected source. IBP waits for stable writes; a file still being transferred may not appear immediately.

Import existing assignment folders

For staff/freelancer folders already on a server, use Ingest โ†’ FTP Assignment Import. Configure the account, browse the assignment directories, select the ones required, choose a local destination, and import. Review per-folder results. Image/XMP intake retains the separate assignment-folder organization.

Metadata and saved results

Preflight metadata can match a photographer by a configured session camera serial or filename code. Review unmatched arrivals rather than assigning identity by guess. Received files become local working files for culling, captions, sets, and export; live intake is not an automatic finished delivery. Connection settings and local workflow records have their own storage paths; do not copy credentials into comments or handoff files.

Verify and troubleshoot

Send one known test image through the real source, confirm it arrives in the intended local folder, and inspect its metadata. For missing images, check source path, polling state, permissions, stabilization, and duplicate notices. A successful login does not prove every transfer succeeded. See Sports Deadline, Metadata, and Delivery connections.
