Maintain people, teams, and event information
Data Manager is the optional shared editorial-data workspace. Use it to maintain verified people, team, roster, and event information that other editorial tools can reuse. Start with an accurate source list and permission to use the data.
Prepare and reuse data
- Enable Data Manager through Plugins and open its workspace.
- Choose the relevant people/team/event collection. Review existing entries before creating a second version of the same subject.
- Open Import spreadsheet data, choose the information type, and click Download example CSV. Fill that layout with your verified data, then choose Import selected CSV. Read Import review, including the imported count and rows needing review.
- Review import errors and ambiguous duplicates. Correct the data instead of relying on spelling similarity to establish that two records are the same person.
- Open Saved data library, choose the record type, and search for a representative entry. Open it for editing, correct fields, save, and check the saved record.
- Return to the editorial workflow that uses the records, such as Athlete Event roster matching. Confirm that it is using the intended roster/event before creating sets or drafting metadata.
Apply information deliberately
Structured records are not automatic labels on photographs. A jersey number, name, or team in a roster can help prepare a caption, but you still need to verify that it belongs to the person in the image. In roster-match review, approve only confirmed rows and leave ambiguous candidates unapproved. Use a CSV correction round when another editor must check the data.
Stored result and options
The plugin retains local structured records. The selected provider or connecting workflow determines any external processing; the existence of local roster data does not authorize publishing it. Keep an authoritative source and an export/backup appropriate to the collection. Other tools should reuse this data instead of requiring you to maintain incompatible lists independently.
Check and recover
Search for several known entries after import, including a name with punctuation or a duplicate number on another team. Confirm the event/team context before reuse. If fields are missing, inspect the import mapping or expected format; do not repeatedly import the same list and create duplicates. If a match is wrong, correct the record and review the resulting image matches before writing metadata. See Assistant Engine, Metadata templates, and Sports Deadline.
Apply shared facts to selected photographs
- Select the intended photographs in the main grid, then open Apply shared facts in Data Manager.
- Choose Event or assignment and Teams or organizations. Review the exact metadata preview and Current selection count.
- Click Apply reviewed metadata only after checking that every shared fact applies to every selected photograph. Existing captions stay unchanged in this action.
- Return to the photographs and inspect their metadata. Library edits and image metadata writes are separate actions.
For AI suggestions, use Generate a reviewed draft, inspect Review AI metadata, and correct the draft before applying it. Saved coverage profiles can reuse context for repeated assignments; review the profile for each new event.
